Friends, a blessed festivity was enjoyed over the weekend, where Me-Wolves wins again, this time in the race to 40! Congratulations to the man and the legend! A big group infiltrated the 'Nati and good times were had by all -- including old manhoops:
And, with the commissioner's blessing, a draft lottery took place in a dramatic conflagration of moonball infiltration. We were at the Great American Red's stadium for the Reds vs. Indians -- and the draft lottery was drawn.
Here are some pics. I can't promise to do any amazing Photoshoppin' like commish did last year. But there are cute kids - and hand drawn drama.
And the 13th pick in the 2010 moonball draft is:
HEY MIKE! What was your prediction about how the Celts were going to handle the Cavs? I sure wish the Bulls had been able to play 7 more games and the Celtics have a lot of heart but being a good NBA team is a whole different thing.
With all of our hometown teams out (it's going to be Labron v Carmelo for the next 10 years or so), it would be nice if we could get together for some old man ball.
This is a super good rap song to get your hooping juices going. (thanks to the Wizznutzz for sharing.)
There's something for everyone in the Sports Dude's podcast interview with Jeff Van Gundy. I'm a fan of the podcast form in general (not just Simmons)--it seems to be an opportunity for a more intimate conversation than interviews in other formats. In this case, Boston fans get to hear some Celtic love, Knick fans get to reminisce about the good old days, and fans of old-style physical basketball are affirmed. And hoops fans all around get almost an hour hearing what JVG thinks. Linked off of the SG page, highly recommended.
Also, has anyone else thought about using Twitter to extend our hoops conversations? We could use #moonball to compile posts. I would hate to lose the great long form stuff done particularly by Dave and Mike, but it's easier to bang out the quick Twitter posts if you don't have time to write a longer piece.
For Celtic haters, maybe a guy like Glen Davis drives you nuts. Under-sized, seemingly over-weight goof ball who is GOING OFF on all comers this post season. I love Glen Davis. So, so much.
This is a series now, jack. By all rights, Orlando should beat a depleted Boston. Ish don't think so.
(p.s. work has been kickin my but so bad I haven't even acknowledged the full joy that was the 4-3 victory over the Bulls. Well played Chi-town, but the World Champs are holding it down.)
Go Rockets! I love Yao Ming and Ron-Ron.
Check out the jumps at Hoop China. Have you picked out your summer sneakers yet?
