Thanks Big Al - R.I.P. (Recover in Peace)

I'm numb after the season-ending injury to Big Al.  Don't call on the suicide watch -- just numb.  I know you feel me Knick 30, Shithouse Brand managers, etc.

Follow me on a trip to Target Center where the Wolves face the Raptors in the first game of the new New Look Timberwolves.

  • Thanks for taking us with you tonight...didn't the song playing during warm-ups come out just as we leaving Minny in '93? Glad to hear Robin S. is still shown the love.

  • A testimonial of the first order.

And just as the Wolves were coming on. . . sorry Sota fans. It is a rough blow.

  • Devastating fantasy implications aside, it is obviously a crushing blow to the Wolves. They really needed to see Al and Love on the floor together and see what they could do. As well as both were been playing, I didn't see them out there together all that much in the games I watched -- and I watched more than a handful. I think they can be a great combo on the offensive end, but now we have to wait to find out if they can get away with it on the defensive side of the court. My guess is not so much esp. given they are also small in the backcourt now that everyone has admitted that Foye is a 2. If they can get a real 7 footer that can play some tough interior D(not named Collins) this offseason then I see nice things in their future.

Growing up in NYC during the days of Hubie Brown as head coach and loving Bernard King, I have always loved and appreciated great post play. Al certainly has a skill set that few in the league have. Here's to hoping we see lots more of it in years to come.

  • I would 100 percent agree with your assessment, K30. The Wolves bigs can board, but are suspect on D, especially together. They have been bringing Love along slowly, which is why we were just starting to see them play more together, and the results were not always great defensively. A true center would be a nice add. Thabeet?

Trees don't grow on trees, though. The Wolves drafted that Euro Pekovic, but he's a ways off --if he ever even comes to the NBA, and then he'd have to make the transition. The Wolves also could use a PG to compete for the job with Telfair.

Al's post play has been remarkable to watch this past season and a half, and was the biggest refreshing change after the KG trade. Here's hoping he comes back strong.
