  • I wasn't sure how I was gonna go on this one. It was tough to cheer for the Celtics during the regular season (especially since some of the only games I watched were against Minny). Plus, I love Sheed, Chauncey, Flip, Rip... Stuckey in the Shithouse, all those guys.

Then last night, as I was getting ready to watch, I looked down at my shirt -- it was my old KG 4 MVP shirt. I knew I had to cheer for KG to win a conference final.

Plus all the beer in the fridge had a green label (and many of you know how superstitious I am about sports teams and beer color). Plus I had leftover corned beef bites from the Irish pub for dinner. Fates were talking, and I was listening.

Luckily for me, I'm relatively new to this NBA thing...haven't been around long enough for Boston to piss me off like the rest of you.

Seeing the fans waving pictures of KG, many of them showing him in a Wolves jersey. Watching him do his pregame thing. Hitting those turnaround baseline jumpers. Helping his teammates or hitting the sweet outside shots. KG is still KG.

No knock on Detroit -- both teams could win this thing, and it will be fun to see if Detroit can win in Boston and force the C's to elevate their game on the road.

In the end I am cheering for the East. My brain is intrigued by the matchup out West, but my heart isn't in it. I pick the Europeans to beat the Americans in that one. Ginobili can't make enough 3s for the Spurs to win. No one will stop Gasol.

P.S. After all that talk about Pierce and pecking order, Boston's best defensive player was also their best offensive player last night. KG is the bomb!

  • I was in Las Vegas on Tuesday night. Bet $30 on Detroit hoping to get my money +49.50 more. Too bad that didn't happen.

  • While you're there a sure bet is Vikings to win more than 8.5 games.

    Right Abe?
