The Most Significant Trade Yet, Part II

Kurt Thomas to San Antonio is huge. Not as sexy as Pau to LA or Shaq to Phoenix, but he is still tough as nails, smart, and can step out and hit the mid-range jumper consistently. The three-headed combo him, Duncan and Oberto will provide awesome interior defense and now they can always have 2 bigs on the court together if needed to match up with Shaq/Amare or Bynum/Pau. Keeping him away from other contenders is also key as he had proven himself as one of the defender who had given Duncan the most trouble. I love this move for the Spurs.

  • Best. Trading Season. Ever. Great deals all around. A really great season so far, in general, I think.

Agreed that this is a great move by the Spurs and even better for KT, who belongs on a contender at this point in his career.

  • Ditto to ye, ironwood.

And more still to ye Knick30.

Thomas is a battler through and through. And with the lack of attention he will receive from defenses, he is going to be a huge contributor in the post-season.

  • Right, right and right. I am tired of waiting for deals that never happen, and it was fun to see some shit go down.

Spurs were in town last night, and the Wolves played them very well. KT didn't suit up yet.

It was exciting, and the crowd was on its feet when the Wolves had the last shot (another growing-pains miss). It still felt good, I hadn't seen that much 4th quarter energy from the crowd in that building for quite a while.

While Duncan had Parker back, and Gino-billy was on fire, I was struck by how he still looked lonely out there. The Wolves bigs Ratliff, Smith and Jefferson neutralized him as much as you can, and he looked like he needed another tree with him out there besides Ooooh-Oberto. I am not that familiar with KT's game, but from what I hear he will be just that fit.

They might miss Barry a little though. Horry doesn't look too good nowadays from the 3 point line (although it's not the playoffs yet.) Wait, what am I saying. Manu can hit all the 3s they'll ever need. And he f--ing did all night. Point withdrawn.
