This Must Be Heaven: 3 Questions in Week 4

I finally went whole hog and got League Pass. . . the Celtics are just too good this year. Tonight was my first night. Wow. What fun. Ray Allen's buzzer beater was a thing of beauty. He could not hit the side of the barn for most all of the game, and then he drains a game winner like he has done so many times throughout his illustrious career. Mmm, mmm, good.

Beyond the necessity of watching Boston play, I am excited for so much of what is transpiring before are eyes: Orlando's ascension, Miami's demise, San Antonio's usual ass kicking, and Houston's roller coaster in the win-loss column. In all the action in the first four weeks, three questions have emerged for me. The first two are about supremacy in the East and Beyond. The third that hard to grasp concept oft referred to as 'intangibles'.

1) Just how good are the Celtics?

2) Are the Bulls this bad?

3) Is it fair to say that Stephen Jackson is one of the biggest 'gamers' now playing?

  • Good post Mike, you've been carrying the water for us with your Outside Shot-style previews. Enjoy the League Pass. This is the first year I haven't gotten it over the past few and I miss it, but only kind of. Last year life was too full to make enough of it and this year seems that way, too. I did have it the year the Pistons won 64 games and I would say I saw between 50 and 60 of their games. Just like bein' back home. End of the plug...

So yeah, the Celtics are good, very good, we'll see about great, but the potential for greatness is there. Folks are sayin' the big three are playing a lot of minutes, time will tell. The Bulls, wow, they are terrible, but didn't they start something like 0-7 a few years ago and make the playoffs? Glad the Pistons let Ben go, even though I think he'll get better. HP--out for blood!

As for S-Jax, he's crazy, but clearly a baller.

  • I am loving watching the C's play right now. It is so nice to see KG play with good players again - it's amazing how much more room all three of those guys have to do their thing. Also, you've gotta love Tom Thibideau - they are playing some serious D.

The key question is whether they will be healthy at playoff time - if they are I don't think either of the man children in the east (LeBron or Howard) can stop them.

As for the bulls, you know you're off to a bad start when you provide succor to the Knicks.
